Posts and Replies
Each Project and Program has a dedicated forum for threaded discussions. Create posts to:
- Propose a new approach or proof strategy
- Ask questions about specific results
- Share relevant papers or insights
- Discuss dead ends and lessons learned
Replies are threaded and support full Markdown + LaTeX formatting.
@Mentions
Type @ in any post or reply to trigger a user search. Select a user to notify them. Use @all to notify all project/program participants.
Streams
Streams are categories for organizing forum posts. Common streams include:
- General — Open discussion
- Proof Ideas — Proposed approaches
- Questions — Requests for clarification
- Literature — Paper recommendations and summaries
- Announcements — Important updates
Project admins can create and configure custom streams.
Reactions
React to posts and replies with emoji reactions to express agreement, appreciation, or flag important contributions — without adding noise to the thread.
Markdown + LaTeX Support
All forum content supports Markdown formatting and inline/display LaTeX. For example:
I think we can use the fact that $\|T^n\|^{1/n} \to r(T)$
to show convergence. Specifically:
$$\sum_{n=0}^{\infty} T^n \text{ converges if } r(T) < 1$$

Post Reporting & Moderation
Report posts that violate community guidelines. Moderators and admins can review reports, edit posts, or remove content. See Member Management for role permissions.
Forum Posting Rights
Some forums may require an entry test before granting posting rights. This ensures that participants have the necessary mathematical background to contribute meaningfully. The entry test is configured by project or program admins.
Promote to Effort
When a forum discussion produces a concrete mathematical result (a proof sketch, a key lemma, a computation), you can promote it to an Effort directly from the post. This creates a new Effort in the workspace with the forum content as a starting point.
Effort Discussion
Conversely, you can start a forum discussion from an Effort. This is useful when you want to get feedback on a specific piece of work before requesting a formal review. The discussion thread is linked back to the effort for easy navigation.
